The Su-35S fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces have begun operating with Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles, expanding their capability to neutralize enemy radars.

New footage released by the Russian Ministry of Defence shows aircraft taking off with two of these missiles, along with air-to-air weapons, indicating an adaptation in aerial strategy during the conflict in Ukraine.

The incorporation of the Kh-31P allows the Su-35S to carry out missions to suppress air defense systems, as these missiles use passive seekers capable of tracking and destroying medium- and long-range radars across various radio-frequency bands. This change reinforces the role of the Su-35S as a frontline aircraft in attack and defense operations.

Designed as a 4++ generation fighter, the Su-35S performs functions that include air combat, strikes against ground targets, and reconnaissance missions. In the current conflict scenario, these jets have been frequently employed and, according to Russian sources, regularly shoot down Ukrainian aircraft.
